Indeed, Bove was forced to apologize to Pecker in front of the jury to open the day. Bove got Pecker to concede that the National Enquirer did “catch and kill” stories to bury damaging information about high-profile people all the time. Bove also contrasted Pecker’s testimony with what was in the FBI notes of Pecker’s first 2018 interview with the feds. And Bove intimated that Pecker cannot directly connect Trump to the allegedly illegal payments then-Trump fixer Michael Cohen made to Daniels at a later date. As for Trump’s recognition of yours truly, it happened again as he left the courtroom Friday for the mid-day break.

The other day, a friend of mine liked one of my LinkedIn posts. AdvertisementWhy LinkedIn feels so cringeAs much as LinkedIn is a professional platform, something about it feels really personal. There's a reason social-media accounts like Best of LinkedIn, which pokes fun at over-the-top LinkedIn posts, exist. Given the weakness of the official advice, I decided to ask a bunch of people for tips on how to post in a non-cringe way on LinkedIn. I also asked a pair of social-media managers — one at Business Insider and one at a different company — for their thoughts on LinkedIn posting.

Customers in the Middle East were angered after McDonald’s Israel – which is operated by a local franchisee -- announced in October it was providing free meals to Israeli soldiers. Last month, McDonald’s President and CEO Chris Kempczinski warned that “misinformation” in the Middle East and elsewhere was hurting sales. New York CNN —McDonald’s said growing tensions in the Middle East have hurt its business. The Middle East doesn’t make up a huge part of its overall business. McDonald’s noted that it provided an insignificant amount of financial assistance for franchisees impacted by the war in the Middle East. That was far worse than the more-than 4% growth in the United States and other international businesses. Many McDonald’s operators in the region quickly distanced themselves from the Israeli operator’s actions.

Then we got a new department head; we did not get along. AdvertisementA few days later, my direct manager said I was being put on a performance-improvement plan due to shoddy work. I arrived super early to every meeting, "cheerfully" offered ideas, and stepped up whenever the new department head asked who wanted a task. I worked nights, weekends, and holidays at the expense of my family. Two months in, the department head pleasantly remarked how hard I'd been grinding.

LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) — Sam Burns shot the best round of his life with “RTR” shaved into the side of his head. Burns fired a career-low 61 on Friday to take a one-shot lead over Michael Kim and a two-shot lead on Dunlap at The American Express. While Burns was at 17-under 127 after his second straight impressive round, Dunlap and South Korea’s K.H. Burns shot 62 at the BMW Championship last season and at the Byron Nelson in 2021. He used that familiarity with the American Express courses to shoot 65-63 in the first two rounds, including six birdies on the back nine of the Nicklaus course Friday.

Moments after House members cast a historic vote to expel Representative George Santos of New York, Speaker Mike Johnson banged the gavel with a grim look on his face. “In light of the expulsion of the gentleman from New York, Mr. Santos, the whole number of the House is now 434,” he announced gravely to an uncommonly silent House chamber, looking down with a faint grimace. It made official what had been apparent in recent days — that many of his fellow Republicans had been willing to defy his wish to keep Mr. Santos, a serial fabulist, in Congress, and that Mr. Johnson and his party were now facing ever-more brutal political math. Their slim four-vote majority has dwindled to just three. That will make governing more difficult for Republicans, who have already had immense trouble corralling their fractious members to steer legislation through the closely divided House.

McDonald's will roll out the Kerwin Frost Box, a collab with New York-based artist Kerwin Frost, on December 11. But the star of the limited-time collab are the McNugget Buddies, an assortment of anthropomorphic McNuggets that haven't been a part of McDonald's mascot rotation in decades. The McNugget Buddies were first introduced in a 1988 Happy Meal, according to McDonald's. They made appearances in McDonald's Canada comics in the early 1993, were available as Sports Buddies in the UK, Japan and Singapore in 1992 and were last seen in 1996 for McNugget Buddies Halloween. The six new McNugget Buddies are based on Frost's experiences growing up in New York City, including one that is designed to look like him.

The central bank's quest for a "soft landing" of more slowly rising prices and continued economic growth looks increasingly probable. In fact, the U.S. may hit a sweet spot just as the 2024 presidential election campaign crescendos next year. Rather than cheering, though, after years of economic turbulence since the coronavirus pandemic erupted in 2020, Americans grumble, at least if you ask them about the economy. With fast rising prices and the end of an array of pandemic-era government benefit programs, inflation-adjusted household income fell last year, and the poverty rate increased. A Biden adviser said the White House understands that the economy and inflation are a critical issue, and the campaign has a big media push planned on "Bidenomics."

McDonald's franchisees who add new restaurants will soon have to pay higher royalty fees. It's the first time in nearly three decades that McDonald's is hiking its royalty fees. However, the higher rate will affect new franchisees, buyers of company-owned restaurants, relocated restaurants and other scenarios that involve the franchisor. McDonald's will also stop calling the payments "service fees," and instead use the term "royalty fees," which most franchisors favor. They pay rent, monthly royalty fees and other charges, such as annual fees toward the company's mobile app, in order to operate as part of McDonald's system.

Fadem said the company's "innovation engine is firing on all cylinders," while international markets are performing better than expected. McDonald's shares have sold off more than the broader market since its second-quarter earnings report in late July. And accelerated unit growth is just one way McDonald's can growth its earnings per share in the 2024 fiscal year, Fadem said. The stock has underperformed the broader market this year, up about 4.5% year to date.

Soldiers carried in two men on stretchers, one his lined face taut in a grimace, a third, with bloodstained pants, following behind.
